This Live Journal site conveniently indexes many U.S. colleges and universities offering shelter and/or enrollment to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students whose studies have been disrupted by Hurricane Katrina. At this point the list has grown so large that it has grown into three separate, alphabetically organized pages. Each listing includes a small amount of information about the types of aid each college or university is providing, and a link to relevant websites being maintained by the college or university itself. Note that some schools are only offering aid to residents of their own state who were attending college in hurricane stricken regions.

The Wikimedia foundation site has a large collection of information on virtually every aspect of the Katrina disaster, including information about housing offers from private individuals, transportation, colleges willing to accept, on a temporary basis, students displaced by Katrina, government aid resources, charitable organizations' response to Katrina, helpline numbers, health and safety information, and information for people who wish to contribute to the relief effort through donations. Individuals wishing to provide housing can easily add themselves to the list. Due to the nature of wiki sites, the information on this site can be expected to evolve constantly.

This site hosted by CNN has four categories of listings: Donate & Volunteer, Get Help, Locate the Missing, and Local Information. There is also a link to a Safe List (currently with about 700 entries) that includes name, city, state, and a status. The safe list is suported by Neighborhood America.
